Sebaceous filaments are particles released from oil glands. They are needed in order to carry sebum through the hair follicle to the surface of the skin that keeps our skin well moisturized and flexible. Sebaceous filaments are flat, and you can not be more than half an inch from your mirror to even see them. They are a normal part of our human body.

So the answer is yes, we can extract them either with the help of an expert or at home by using natural remedies, but this will not solve the problem. To solve this problem, proper care of your skin on a daily basis is necessary. For many people, sebaceous filaments may not be visible at all. However, for those having an oily skin type, these sebaceous glands may look like blackheads because of their large pores. It is not that big issue, but their removal gives us clear, youthful skin. Extraction ways of sebaceous filaments at home are the following:

A moisturizing balancing cream will regulate the PH of the skin and control the production of sebum.

Bentonite clay mask, healing mask, or other clay masks clear up the skin.  They absorb the excess oils giving a clear look

Dead skin cells are removed by exfoliating the skin. It unclogs the pores minimizing the dark appearance of sebaceous filaments.

How to do it?

Grab one tablespoon of baking soda and add some water to make a paste. Apply the paste on the affected area and rub in circular motions. Then let it sit for 1-2 minutes and then rinse off with warm water.

If you are looking for something less irritating and more accessible, look for retinol-based products that are available in the market without prescription. They often include hydrating and skin-repairing ingredients that turn over your skin. But make sure you use your sunblock during the day because retinol makes your skin more photosensitive.

Yes !cleansing is the most important one of all the ways to remove sebaceous filaments. I hope everyone will be doing their cleansing regularly, but if you are using sunscreen, then you need to double cleanse at night, which means for the first time you need cleanse to remove the sunblock and the second time you need to cleanse actually to clean up your pores. Gently rub the pores in circular motions with your hands and then wash all the dirt and oils away from your pores, giving you a youthful, fresh skin.

Another way to remove sebaceous filaments safely is by using an extractor. First of all, by steaming or using hydrating moisturizers soften the skin, then very carefully use the extractor to extract them. Use the extractor at a 45  degree and be as gentle as you can.
